The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is a regional food distribution and support system serving over 100 partner agencies in Northern Nevada. They provide and support programs including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs and the Kids Cafe dinner program, summer meals program and much more. Moneytree sponsored the organization’s 2008 West Street Market Holiday festival and was the Presenting Sponsor of the 2009 “CANstruction” food collection event in April.

The five-day, CANstruction event featured teams from local companies, schools and organizations competing to build structures using canned and packaged food. After the structures were completed, they became a public art display that community members judged. After the event, all of the food used to build the structures was donated to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. The 2009 event yielded 27,000 cans or a total of 25,444 pounds of food for the Food Bank to distribute.
