Gold Buying
How can I tell if my jewelry is actually gold, rather than just gold-plated metal?
Take a very strong magnet and see if the jewelry sticks to the magnet. If it does, there are other metals in your jewelry and Moneytree will not be able to purchase that item from you. Some metals are not attracted to a magnet such as silver or copper. Though not detectible through a magnet test, additional tests will reveal if the item is gold plated.
Is there a limit on the amount of gold Moneytree will buy?
No, Moneytree will buy as little or as much gold as you want to sell.
Why should I sell my gold to Moneytree?

What if I don’t want to sell my gold after Moneytree makes an offer?
Moneytree is pleased to provide you with a free no-obligation quote. You have the choice whether to sell after we quote you a purchase price.
How do I know that my gold is being valued correctly?
By visiting a convenient Moneytree location your gold will be tested in front of you by a trained team member. We’ll perform two initial tests on the item before making a competitive bid to purchase your gold pieces. If you agree to the price, we’ll do a final test to confirm that the items are solid gold. We also welcome you to get other bids on your items to feel more comfortable with our offer.
Is all gold worth the same amount?
The actual price you'll receive for your scrap gold items depends on the weight and the karat value of the gold. For example, an ounce of 18 karat gold is worth more than an ounce of 10 karat gold. The higher the karat number, the higher percentage of pure gold in the item. The karat content is often stamped on the item.
-
24 karat is 24/24 or 100% gold.
-
18 karat is 18/24 or 75% gold
-
12 karat is 12/24 or 50% gold
